La première version du Gaica présentait la particularité d'être équipé d'un obturateur importé Gauthier Vario.
Ici seul le bloc optique associé à l'obturateur à été retrouvé, il a été monté sur un châssis de Gaica II en grisé sur la photo.
Par comparaison entre différentes sources, les deux châssis semblent être identiques (clés, viseur, embossages de la cuirette ) à l'exception du déclencheur qui s'actionne directement sur l'obturateur sur le Gaica I, alors qu'il est déporté à coté du viseur sur le Gaica II. La teinte de la cuirette du Gaica I serait peut-être d'un brun plus clair.
